Denver Firefighter's Museum

Another Team Givan visit: the Denver Firefighter's Museum. A dense little museum, we enjoyed the visit a lot, and from the sounds of it, so did the kids having a birthday party there.

Abandoned: Croft, Kansas

Chris and Theresa explored a small abandoned town outside of Pratt, Kansas. The name of the town was Croft, Kansas. They went in and out of the different buildings. It appeared that the town was abandoned rather hastily, and many things were still left on the site. Croft was established in the 1800s. The post-office was closed in 1961 and finally by 2003 it was completely abandoned.

SR-71 Blackbird Cleaning - Details

Every few months (about 6) The Cosmosphere's maintenance crew gathers early in the morning (6AM the morning after the time change on this day) to clean off Blackbird #961, a mock-up of the Space Shuttle Endeavour, and a T-38 Talon, using tall ladders and a lift. The guys were nice enough to let me come and observe/take pictures. It was a challenge though—I hadn't handled a DSLR in quite some time, the Cosmosphere's lighting lent an odd hue to it all, and I didn't want to bother them by using the flash.
